At long last, the Flyers get their revenge on the Montreal Canadiens

Revenge has never felt so good.

After four years of Montreal collectively dunking on Philadelphia for passing on Cole Caufield, we stand toe-to-toe yet again.

But as my good friend Derek said, it is our time to wield the dagger. The Montreal Canadiens made a grave mistake and that fanbase knows it, voicing their displeasure all over the team’s socials threads. It’s eerily similar to the Flyers of 2019 with the Cam York selection.

The difference? Cam York could end up being our top defenseman, and while Cole Caufield is a fun player — he isn’t generational.

He doesn’t spearhead your franchise, he doesn’t thrust you into the upper echelon of the NHL, and he can’t even play an entire season.

If I sound harsh, it’s because I mean to be. I’ve had to hear this fanbase chirping in my ear after we bounced them in the bubble, with Derek Grant taunting them on the way out.

So here we are four years after the “mistake” the Flyers made, and the Montreal Canadiens passed on a generational forward. That city, much like Washington, is hurting today because they know what just happened.

You opened the door for Philadelphia. They are now a sleeping giant. When they wake up, I hope David Reinbacher is good enough to make you forget about this day.
