Report: James Harden is ‘prioritizing’ long term contract with the Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are on a collision course to re-sign James Harden to a long term contract once NBA Free Agency begins.
According to Woj, James Harden is prioritizing the length of his new contract over annual value. He is looking for a “quick resolution” on a long-term deal to remain with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Woj did mention getting a long term deal out of the Sixers would be a “challenge” but listen, we all know what’s going to happen here. Daryl Morey and the Philadelphia 76ers are going to give James Harden a long term contract. It’s almost inevitable at this point and it will almost certainly doom this franchise over the next 2-4 years.
Woj: James Harden ‘Prioritizing’ Long Term Contract with 76ers

I honestly don’t know how any Sixers fan could be happy about the possibility of signing Harden to a long term contract. We have all witnessed the player he has become over the last few seasons and on top of that, we watched him struggle in the playoffs last season as this time yet again, failed to advance out of the second round of the playoffs.
Yes, I know the rebuttal to that statement is that the Sixers will be fine “running it back” because they were one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals before losing in Game 7 to the Celtics but ask yourself how many times we have said that over the last 3-4 seasons with the Sixers.
Running it back will surely lose the trust and faith of this fanbase and while everyone wants to complain over Tobias Harris calling them “casual” fans for wanting him traded, the point I tried to make yesterday is that 4th-option Tobias Harris is the least of the Sixers concerns heading into next season.
The fact remains that Daryl Morey and this organization continue to fail to build a proper team around two star players in Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. They failed so badly, that they are now in a situation entering the 2024 season where they have little-to-no room to move draft picks and have no assets to trade outside of possibly moving Tobias Harris who’s on the final year of a max contract.
How Elton Brand and Daryl Morey still have jobs inside the Philadelphia 76ers organization is honestly incredible.
