RFA Matisse Thybulle signs 3-year offer sheet with the Dallas Mavericks

Chris Haynes of TNT reported yesterday that the Dallas Mavericks plan to sign unrestricted free agent guard Matisse Thybulle.
Matisse Thybulle signs offer sheet with the Dallas Mavericks
Thybulle will sign a three-year contract offer sheet in the $33 million range with the Dallas Mavericks.
Daryl Morey and the Sixers traded Matisse Thybulle and what ended up being the 34th pick in this year’s NBA Draft in order to land Jalen McDaniels from the Charlotte Hornets in a three team trade with Portland.
To Note: Jalen McDaniels has already left Philadelphia. He signed with the Toronto Raptors in free agency last week on a two-year, $9.3 million contract.
Thybulle, who was once considered “untouchable” by the Sixers organization, was traded for a player that played 24 games in Philadelphia and made zero playoff contributions.
Let that one sink in.
Anyways, now at 26-years old, Thybulle will likely be heading to Dallas. Since he’s a restricted free agent, Portland does have the ability to match the Mavericks’ offer sheet within 48 hours of Matisse officially signing it.
Thybulle, who never really progressed on the offensive side of the court, is still considered an elite defender and has made two All-Defensive teams over his first four seasons in the NBA.
Provided that that the Blazers let him walk, Thybulle will be a major upgrade for the Mav’s perimeter defense that got destroyed regularly since players like Luka, Kyrie Irving, Seth Curry, and Dante Exum don’t play a lick of defense.
