Montrezl Harrell likely out for the season following ACL and meniscus tear during offseason workouts

Remember the Philadelphia 76ers? After a quiet few weeks following NBA free agency, we have a quick update on backup center Montrezl Harrell and it’s definitely not a good one.
After experiencing some swelling after offseason workouts, MRI’s revealed yesterday that Harrell suffered an ACL and meniscal tear.

ACL tears are never a good thing. It’s likely that Harrell will now be sidelined for the most, if not all of the 2023-2024 season.
Harrell averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds with the Sixers in his first season in Philly. After declining his player option after the end of last season, he eventually found his way back to Philly, re-signing with the team on a one year contract.
The already “big heavy” Sixers roster still has plenty of options without Harrell. Paul Reed, Mo Bamba, and possibly Filip Petrusev will now get more time backing up Joel Embiid.
