With a three-game road trip next on the slate for the Philadelphia Flyers, Olle Lycksell…

Flyers sign 51st overall pick, Carson Bjarnason, to an entry-level contract
Minutes ago the Flyers announced they’re signing Carson Bjarnason, the 51st overall pick in the recent 2023 draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract.
I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’m a goalie expert because these guys develop more unconventional than any other position in all of sports. So you’re not going to hear me try and break down Carson’s game. I’ll leave the breakdowns and all that good stuff to the goalie experts, specifically Jason Myrtetus.
But we can still look at his stats and the 18-year-old went 21-19-6 with a 3.06GAA and a .900 SV%. in 2022-23, 16th best in WHL. As I said, goalie development is weird because one minute they can be the next best thing, and the next they can’t stop a beach ball. With that being said, an 18-year-old being tied for 4th in the entire WHL in shutouts is extremely impressive so I am officially announcing I’m all-in on this kid
Obviously, the Flyers have liked what they’ve seen out of Carson in training camp, or else they probably wouldn’t be signing an 18-year-old goalie to his ELC. With Carter Hart, Felix Sandstrom, Sam Ersson, Ivan Fedotov (kind of), Alexei Kolosov, Carson himself, and Egor Zavragin, the Flyers have a ton of depth at the goalie position both right now presently and in the future.
