WATCH: Tyrese Maxey interrupts Joel Embiid during Sixers Media Day Press Conference
The Philadelphia 76ers held their annual NBA Media Day with just over two weeks before the start of the 2023-24 regular season.
Obviously, the main topic of conversation was centered around James Harden and the fact that he didn’t show up for media day while he continues to act like a baby because he wasn’t traded. There was however, a few good moments from earlier today, including Joel Embiid taking the podium in a Phillies’ Red October beanie.

Tyrese Maxey was actually sitting with the media and had the opportunity to ask Embiid a question of his own. Actually, it wasn’t really a question, he just wanted a shoutout for his podcast “Maxey on the Mic” which Embiid happily gave his support.
Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid share a funny moment during media day
Listen, I’m just trying to pull some positives out of my hat here. The Sixers have a MILLION unanswered questions heading into this season and this roster is not really something that has driven hope into the minds and hearts of Sixers fans.
Regardless of the disaster between Harden and Daryl Morey, the key to the Sixers having any legitimate success this year comes down to Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Seeing these guys mixing it up at Media Day and building that chemistry to a new level is a positive sign.
After years of constantly wondering whether or not the Sixers’ locker room was intact or if the (x) player gets along with the (x) player, Embiid and Maxey remain locked in while the world burns around them.
Who knows, right? Maybe all the dark clouds that linger over this franchise can finally pass and the Sixers will surprise the NBA this season while everyone, including our own fanbase, as written them off weeks ahead of the start of the regular season.
As down as I am on this team, something has to give.
We’ve got two franchise cornerstones and the best head coach/culture setter in Nick Nurse that we’ve had in this entire era. Let’s see what happens. Until then, Go Birds and Ring The Bell, baby.
