Sixers News: James Harden reports for first practice of training camp

James Harden reports to Sixers practice, and we had a national emergency alert; is it a coincidence? I think not.

After missing the media day in Camden, New Jersey, on Monday and the initial training camp practice at Colorado State University on Tuesday, Philadelphia 76ers’ standout James Harden returned to his team to participate in their second practice on Wednesday, led by their new coach, Nick Nurse.

Harden supposedly participated in the entire practice session, and according to everyone present, he performed impressively.

“He looked good,” Nurse commented following the practice session at Moby Arena. “He looked good, participated in most [practice], anyway, and looked like he’s physically in good shape.”

Tobias Harris on James Harden Returning to the Sixers

“We’re all grown men here,” Harris said. “Everybody understands the business of the game of basketball at this point. Personally, he doesn’t have to address myself or anybody, truthfully.

But his participation, in my opinion, is addressing that,” he continued. “He’s here, and his attitude and energy today allowed everybody to understand that he wants to go out here and compete with us and get stuff done. In my opinion, all that really matters is his energy and effort towards myself and all our teammates.”

Unsurprisingly, when media members were let into Wednesday’s practice, Harden had already departed and was not made available to reporters. The only thing we got were the photos posted on social media. For what it’s worth, he did look engaged in the pictures.

Anyway, the message and goal appear to be the same from the Sixers. They hope he will be a part of the team moving forward. Should be a fun ride ahead.
