Braves mascot ‘Blooper’ shredded by Phillies fans on social media, The Fightins steal Game 1 in Atlanta 3-0
The Atlanta Braves had a rough weekend. It started on Friday with their mascot ‘Blooper’ striking the hornets nest that is Philadelphia sports fans on Twitter, and finished with the Phillies stealing Game 1 of the NLDS against Spencer Strider on Saturday night, winning 3-0.
It started with a tweet from the mascot account on Friday stating “one more day” which was obviously in reference to the NLDS starting on Saturday.
All it took was a simple quote tweet from our guy Eric Fink stating “til your death” to send Blooper and Braves fans into complete shambles while Phillies fans piled on in the replies.

This is the definition of “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”
I get that the Phanatic is an OG but his last highlight was recorded with a flash bulb, it’s shocking you guys hate Dallas so much because you relive Phanatic’s glory days the same way they relive their super bowls https://t.co/bRHDq6hV8k

From there, the flood gates were opened and Blooper ended up getting his ass served to him on a silver platter from Phillies fans. National publications were writing articles about “Phillies fans bullying Braves’ mascot Blooper”. Absolute chaos and we were still a day away from the first pitch in the NLDS. Incredible.
Philly Voice did a nice roundup of all the replies here >>
I know. It’s wild to see people writing articles about a literal mascot getting bullied by fans on social media but that’s just the road we’ve traveled and all things considered, it worked.
The Phillies then went and bullied the powerhouse Atlanta Braves on the baseball diamond, winning Game 1 of the NLDS 3-0 courtesy of a dominant performance from their bullpen, a few clutch plays defensively, and a home run from Bryce Harper off Spencer Strider.
That of course, almost certainly has the Braves thinking about what happened last season, when the Phillies did the exact same thing in stealing Game 1. From there, the Phillies lost Game 2 before winning 3 & 4 at home to advance to the NLCS against the San Diego Padres.
The Fightins will look for a commanding 2-0 series lead tonight with Zack Wheeler on the mound opposing Braves’ pitcher Max Fried.
Game 2: Zack Wheeler vs Max Fried
Wheeler was 2-0 with a 3.32 ERA in three starts against the Braves this season. Since joining the Phillies, he’s 6-3 with a 2.46 ERA in 14 starts since 2020, including the postseason.
Opposing Wheeler will be Braves’ veteran Max Fried, who’s posted a 2.55 ERA in 14 starts this season. Fried missed a lot of time on the mound this year, dealing with a variety of injuries.
He missed April with a left hamstring straight then spent three months on the injured list with a left forearm strain. Most recently, he’s been dealing with a blister on his left index finger that developed over the final weeks of the regular season.

Phillies Projected Game 2 Lineup
With a left-handed pitcher on the mound in Fried, expect the Phillies to go back to the lineup we saw in the NL Wild Card series against the Marlins. Basically, everything stays the same except Brandon Marsh is swapped out for Cristian Pache in left field.
- Kyle Schwarber, DH
- Trea Turner, SS
- Alec Bohm, 3B
- Bryce Harper, 1B
- JT Realmuto, C
- Nick Castellanos, RF
- Bryson Stott, 2B
- Cristian Pache, LF
- Johan Rojas, CF
Phans of Philly – Los Angeles Takeover
The Liberty Line crew is out in Santa Monica with Phans of Philly for yet another successful Eagles takeover. For those keeping track (which I’m sure a lot of you are), TLL is now a perfect 3-0 in Phillies postseason games and 3-0 in Eagles games when traveling with Phans of Philly.
