Bryce Harper: ‘I don’t care who you are, you’re not better than Bryson Stott’

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1 to take a 3-2 series lead in the NLCS with Game 6 scheduled at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night.

Kyle Schwarber got things rolling in the top of the first inning by hitting a chopper off the top of his bat down the third base line for an infield single.

Bryce Harper crushed a single up the middle off Zac Gallen to put runners on the corners. Bryson Stott then stepped up to the plate and roped an RBI single to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.

It was a huge hit from Stott, who managed to set the tone in the top of the first inning last night by saving the Phillies from stranding two in the opening frame.

In the same inning, JT Realmuto fell behind 0-2 as Stott broke for second base. Gabriel Moreno probably should have held the baseball but instead, he threw to second in attempt to catch Stott stealing. With Stott held up in a rundown, Bryce Harper who was on third base, broke for home plate.

Harper beat the errant throw from Ketel Marte to put the Phillies up 2-0 in the game.

In the seventh inning, Zack Wheeler had already thrown 96 pitches. The Phillies were up three runs and Arizona had their top of the order due up.

Stott made a RIDICULOUS play, diving to his left to reel in a baseball that looked like it was going to find the gap through the infield to right for the out. Wheeler was out of the inning three pitches later.

Gold Glove Defense from Bryson Stott

As I’m sure most of you know already, Bryson Stott and Bryce Harper are both Las Vegas natives and have a long history together.

Their families have been friends for years and Stott has known Harper since he was a kid. Stott’s mom was Bryce’s sister’s high school cheerleading coach and he even lived with Harper during Spring Training down in Clearwater, Florida when he was coming up through the minors.

Aaron Nola – For All Things Holy

Aaron Nola will take the mound Monday night at Citizens Bank Park looking to guide the Phillies to their second consecutive National League Pennant and World Series appearance. Nola has pitched in four “clinching games” since last year (2 WC and 2 Regular Season). He’s allowed just one run in 27 innings, good for a 0.33 ERA.
