Joel Embiid James Harden Shade

Joel Embiid appears to throw shade at James Harden in recent comments about the Philadelphia 76ers’ 6-game winning streak

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have stormed out of the gates to begin the 2023-24 NBA season.

After losing the first game of the season on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Sixers have rattled off six straight wins, highlighted by an impressive 106-103 win against the Boston Celtics last Wednesday night.

Of course, there’s a bunch of different things that factor in to the Sixers’ early-season success. You have a new head coach in Nick Nurse, Tyrese Maxey as the primary ball handler, and a few key pieces that arrived via the James Harden trade.

In a tweet recently posted from NBC Sports Philly’s John Clark, he talked to Joel Embiid about his team’s six game winning streak.

Joel Embiid on Sixers’ 6-game Winning Streak

“No one has an ego on this team. We got new guys, took them in, got them up to speed. Guys want to play with each other. They want to be around each other. I think it helps a lot”

Oh well isn’t that interesting? Joel Embiid is a very smart guy and typically chooses his words wisely. There’s absolutely zero chance that the “ego” line wasn’t a little shade thrown at his former teammate James Harden, who’s now in Los Angeles with the Clippers while losing basketball games and partying in night clubs after.

Tonight, the Philadelphia 76ers will embark on a journey to win the NBA Cup. The Sixers’ first game of the NBA In-Season Tournament will be against the Pistons on the road in Detroit.

Detroit is currently in dead last in the Eastern Conference Standings with a miserable 2-7 record.

On the opposite end of the standings, the Philadelphia 76ers are in first place with a 6-1 record.

A lot of people aren’t even talking about the NBA In-Season Tournament but I want the inaugural NBA Cup to reside in Philadelphia more than anything in the world right now. That would be absolutely hilarious.
