Best Duo in the NBA: Tyrese Maxey drops a 50 burger on the Indiana Pacers, Joel Embiid continues to dominate
The Philadelphia 76ers extended their winning streak to eight games last night following a 137-126 victory over the Indiana Pacers at the Wells Fargo Center.
Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey: The Best Duo in the NBA
What Tyrese Maxey has managed to do over the first nine games of the 2023-24 NBA season is absolutely incredible. He’s averaged 28.6 points on 61 percent true shooting to go along with 7.2 assists to 1.1 turnovers per game.
Shooting Splits: 50.5/43.1/93.0
Last night, Maxey dropped a 50 burger on the heads of the Indiana Pacers. He tallied seven rebounds, five assists, and three blocks with seven three pointers made from beyond the arc.
Maxey became the youngest 76ers player to have a 45+ point game since Allen Iverson, who accomplished that feat in 1997. The stat line of 50 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three blocks has only been achieved by two other players in NBA history.
- 1992: Michael Jordan (54 PTS, 13 REB, 7 AST, 3 BLK)
- 2003: Kobe Bryant (52 PTS, 8 REB, 7 AST, 3 BLK)
Joel Embiid continues in MVP Form
Insane Stat: Last night, marked the first time in Joel Embiid’s 8-year NBA career that one of his teammates scored 50 points in a game. Is 50 points too high of a mark? No problem. It was also the first game that a teammate has scored more that 40 points in a game that he also played.
To put that into perspective, Embiid has played over 400 regular season games. That’s just bat shit crazy given how great Embiid has been and the wide array of talent that has been put around him.
Embiid scored 37 points with 13 rebounds and seven assists last night and much like Maxey, has been on an absolute warpath during the Sixers 8-game winning streak.

Joel Embiid on Tyrese Maxey
“If I got to be honest, he probably would have taken this leap a year ago, 2 years ago because I’ve been telling him to workout with Drew [Hanlen] for a long time, but I’m happy that he did it… I’ve always said [he’s] the hardest working person I’ve ever been around and that’s saying something… He’s gonna be here for a long time and like I said, he’s the franchise.“
