Eagles vs. 49ers Week 13 Preview: Storylines, odds, and official prediction

The time has finally come. The Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) will host the San Francisco 49ers (8-3) at Lincoln Financial Field Sunday afternoon in a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game.

The last time these two teams met, we know what happened. Brock Purdy got knocked out of the game, the Eagles ran the Niners off the field, and the San Francisco’s fanbase and players proceeded to bitch and complain about it for the entire offseason.

Not only is this game huge from an emotional perspective, with both sides clamoring for a huge win on Sunday, this matchup will more than likely decide who clinches home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

If Philly gets the win, they’ll improve to 11-1, clinch a playoff berth, and hold a full three-game lead over San Fran. They’ll also hold the tiebreaker advantage over the Dallas Cowboys in the head-to-head category, since Dallas got their doors blown off by San Fran about a month ago.

If San Francisco gets the W, the Eagles will essentially have to win out to ensure they don’t relinquish the one seed.

It’s being called the game of the year for a reason, folks. Let’s get into everything you’ll need to know ahead of tomorrow’s highly anticipated contest.

Why The Eagles Will Win

There’s no doubt this game is personal for both sides. The scum of San Francisco and their team have run their mouths every step of the way since getting blown out in the NFCCG.

Deebo Samuel called James Bradberry trash and then said his most hated team was the Eagles. Brandon Aiyuk cried too, saying his team would have won if Purdy didn’t get hurt. Their stupid kicker, Robbie Gould, said Eagles QB Jalen Hurts can’t play quarterback from the pocket. Their coward of a head coach, Kyle Shanahan, told reporters he was glad to see Philly scheduled so late in the season, giving his team to be fully healthy.

As you can tell, this team is full of losers. Pathetic excuses, whining, and worst of all, refusal to admit the Eagles are better than them. Philadelphia won by 24 points in the NFCCG. Even if Purdy didn’t get knocked out, he’s not worth 24 points, and if you legitimately think he would have mounted a comeback, you simply don’t know football.

Because Brock Purdy is a front-runner, just like the rest of his team. Shanahan is 0-36 when trailing by eight points or more in the fourth quarter. Zero wins. 36(!) losses. Every team in the NFL embodies their head coach and quarterback to a certain extent. If the Niners get down early, they have no hope, which is a stark difference for Hurts, Nick Sirianni, and their Eagles squad.

The Eagles thrive when they’re down. They play their best football when the game is in doubt. San Fran doesn’t even understand the art of winning close games, because they either get blown out of they blow the other team out. They have one way of winning, getting up early and allowing Purdy to take what defenses are showing him and ride the ground game. The Eagles, on the other hand, can win in a multitude of different ways, which makes them all the more dangerous.

Down by multiple scores? No problem, win. Play like shit for three quarters? Next question, win. Defense can’t stop a nosebleed? You know the answer – they’re going to make the stop when it matters and win. All this team does is win and they do it differently every single week. You can’t matchup with that, regardless of how many big name players you have.

It’s going to happen again on Sunday. Even San Francisco knows it. They way they’re talking, it’s obvious who they’re trying to convince. They’re scared little weasels; frightened of the things they don’t truly understand. They can’t grasp what it means to be in a dog fight. They’re soft, miserable people. And I can’t wait to laugh in their faces at The Linc tomorrow. With the rain pouring down, and Brock Purdy wishing he was on the sideline again so he doesn’t have to endure the Eagles pass rush anymore.

It’s going to be a bloodbath. Eagles win, 31-14.
