WATCH: Eagles rookie Sydney Brown intercepts Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray for 99-yard touchdown

Philadelphia Eagles rookie safety Sydney Brown picked off Kyler Murray for a 99-yard touchdown in today’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

A miscommunication by Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals offense led to the 99-yard pick-six for Sydney Brown and the Eagles’ defense. Brown picked off the pass on the 1-yard line and immediately took off down field for the touchdown. The rookie’s pick-6 put the Eagles up 14-3 in the second quarter.

Note: Sydney Brown was selected by the Eagles in the 3rd round of the 2023 NFL Draft, which was the pick that Philadelphia received as compensation for former defensive coordinator and current Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon’s tampering settlement. 

According to Next Gen Stats, Brown reached a top speed of 21.52 mph, which was the fastest play by an Eagles ball carrier in over two seasons. Brown traveled 126.7 yards on the play, the most distance traveled on pick-six since Week 5, 2018 (Marcus Maye, 140.7 yards).

Brown’s interception for a touchdown was the fifth longest in Eagles’ franchise history — the longest since Malcolm Jenkins in 2015. The Eagles currently lead the Cardinals 14-3 with three minutes left in the first half. Jalen Hurts connected with Julio Jones on the other touchdown scored in today’s game.
