Eagles Press Conference: Nick Sirianni on new coordinators, his role, and new offense moving forward
If it’s not clear already, Nick Sirianni is returning as the Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach.
On Wednesday, Howie and Nick met with the media to do their highly anticipated end-of-season press conference. In what should be a delight to fans, Sirianni was refreshingly transparent.
To begin, Sirianni was asked a lot of questions, but most notably, what the offense would look like moving forward.
“It’s about coming up with fresh ideas and doing some things different, and that’s exactly where we are right now. It’s now about bringing in fresh ideas, some different thoughts than what a lot of the guys[who have been here for years]. So just wanted to bring in some fresh ideas, and that’s where we are with that.”
Obviously, it was made quite clear this season that, ultimately, it was Sirianni’s offense the Eagles were running. So, how flexible will he be with changing things?
“That’s exactly what we’re talking about. It’s just about putting the players in the best position to succeed and doing things differently at times too. But there are going to be things that, whoever the new coordinator is, there’s going to be things that they bring that are going to be fresh ideas for us to help our players grow, to help our players play at the top level. And there’s been some things that we’ve done really well on offense too in the past that you’ll mesh in some of that together as well with some of the things that we’ve had success with and that our guys do well.
“So I’m excited about that. The new ideas meshing with some of the old ideas. We’ll see how some of that continues to go throw our offseason process and where we land with that, but yeah, obviously, to me, we got a little stale on offense at the end of the year. And these ideas and this new person coming in is meant to take away the staleness of the offense.”
What is Nick Sirianni’s role with the Eagles then?

My biggest takeaway from this Eagles post-season press conference wasn’t even the potential hire of their new defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio. It was how open Sirianni was about his role and what the new offensive coordinator will be.
It sure seems the young head coach did a lot of self-reflection after the collapse in the last 6-7 weeks of the season. His role is to be the “CEO” coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, and I believe that is what he is best at.
