Free Agent pitcher Trevor Bauer’s proposed contract is something the Phillies’ should sign immediately
Trevor Bauer should be in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform in 2024.
It would be foolish to ignore the fact that Trevor Bauer’s name alone will always make people upset. A lot of baseball fans are still concerned or simply downright angry about the allegations against him and the suspension (that he served) from Major League Baseball because of it.
I know very well that the “Internet Court of Public Opinion” will shred me for even posting about Bauer. That was obviously expected and will almost certainly prove to be true yet again.
Just watch the quote tweets and replies stack up…
I’ll be criticized by accounts with no real information about the person running them for “supporting a rapist” or “not believing women” which is obviously ridiculous.
To be clear – zero allegations of sexual assault or rape should be taken lightly.
At the same time, Bauer has provided some pretty significant evidence to prove his innocence and has never been arrested or charged after being accused of such horrible acts.
Again, he also served his suspension from Major League Baseball, so what the hell do you want me to do?
If you’re upset with anyone, lets make sure it’s with the judicial system and baseball.
I sure as hell didn’t do anything. I’m just looking at a starting pitcher that has proven to be elite during his time with the Reds and Dodgers, and again in Japan while playing in the NPL.
We’ll leave it at that. Feel free to do your own research to form or change your opinion.
Last March, Bauer signed a one-year, $4MM contract with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. He posted a 2.76 ERA through 130 2/3 innings while striking out 24.3% of opposing hitters. With that one-year deal complete, he is again a free agent and eligible to return to Major League Baseball.
This is a cheap option for a proven MLB pitcher that has the potential to be certified stud and a No. 2 or No. 3 starter behind Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola.
In a recent appearance on “This Past Weekend with Theo Von”, Bauer discussed a potential return to Major League Baseball and what it would take for a team to sign him ahead of Spring Training.
Trevor Bauer proposed MLB contract seems like a no brainer for the Phillies
“I just want to play. That’s where I’m at. I’ll play for league minimum and like, earn my money based on incentives. I don’t care. Whatever the structure for the team is, that makes them most comfortable, it’s fine with me.”
“I just want to go play, ya know? If you sign me, and something is not going right and you don’t like the reaction or whatever, you can cut me. I know I can go out there and deliver. I know the type of person I am and the results I’m going to produce. I’m willing to bet on myself…”
I mean come on, let’s ride! Trevor Bauer deserves another chance in Major League Baseball and if you look at the Phillies’ starting rotation, you can’t possibly tell me that adding him to the following rotation wouldn’t the an immediate improvement. Seems like a no brainer, even more so at the proposed contract structure from Trevor Bauer himself.
Phillies Projected Starting Rotation (with Trevor Bauer)
- Zack Wheeler
- Aaron Nola
- Ranger Suarez
- Trevor Bauer*
- Taijuan Walker / Cristopher Sanchez
- Mick Abel / Griff McGarry / Andrew Painter 2025

Bauer is a bad guy and has been forever. Don’t want this piece of shit anywhere near the Phillies
