Watch: Matvei Michkov 3-point game, 2 points away from KHL history

Sorry hockey fans, the KHL season is coming to an end, which means we won’t be able to witness greatness from future Philadelphia Flyers’ Matvei Michkov.

Michkov won’t be seeing the playoffs with Sochi, who honestly might be one of the worst teams that I have personally ever watched play the game of hockey.

Sochi being horrible doesn’t take away from Michkov, who I strongly to be the savior of Philadelphia Flyers hockey at just 19-years old.

Michkov, despite dealing with pneumonia for the better part of the season, now has 19G-22A-41P in 46 games with Sochi. Three of those points game today.

POINT ONE: Matvei Michkov Assist

Michokov takes the puck from Khusnutdinov off the wall, towards the goal line, and walks the opposing defender. Michkov isn’t scared to go to the dirty parts of the ice to create chances.

POINT TWO: Matvei Michkov Goal

Again, another example of Michkov not being afraid to go to the dirty areas and create something. Here he takes a puck right in front of the crease and uses his elite hands to make a move around the goalie and pot the puck with two players on top of him.

Then he gets two-handed crosschecked while on the ground after the goal. Michkov doesn’t shy away from contact, he invites it. Love how his teammates didn’t let that fly. You don’t touch Matvei Michkov.

POINT THREE: Matvei Michkov Goal No. 2

Michkov does a great job on the forecheck to disrupt/make the defender feel uncomfortable enough to cough off the puck. Immediately gets it into a high-danger area to Khusnutdinov, who makes a slick pass back to Michkov for the tap-in.

Michkov has one more game left this season – Sunday at 9:00 AM vs Neftekhimik.

He’ll have a chance to break another record (something he’s familiar with doing) with 2 more points on Sunday to break the most points by a U20 player in KHL history.
