Harper Day: 5 years ago, the Phillies signed Bryce Harper; a look at the numbers and top moments in red pinstripes

Five years ago today, the Philadelphia Phillies signed Bryce Harper to a 13-year, $330 million contract. 

The contact featured a full no-trade clause and has been considered one of the most team-friendly contracts from a Major League Baseball star player in the history of the sport. On top of that the length of the deal spread out the cash flow, lowering the AAV which gave the Phillies’ front office much more flexibility in signing future talent.

Harper also has a .324 batting average with 34 hits, 11 home runs, 21 RBIs, and 26 runs scored in 30 postseason games with the Philadelphia Phillies over the past two seasons. Also worth mentioning, Harper led the charge as The Fightins snapped a decade-long playoff drought in 2022 on their way to a World Series appearance for the first time since 2009.
