NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles and Saquon Barkley have shocking mutual interest

Despite the Philadelphia Eagles’ organizational philosophy on the running back position, it seems they may be open to doing things a little differently this offseason.

According to 94WIP’s Howard Eskin, the Philadelphia Eagles are, in fact, interested in free-agent running back Saquon Barkley.

I can’t imagine the New York Giants would be thrilled at the idea of Barkley remaining in the NFC East, especially playing behind the Eagles’ offensive line and all the dynamic players they have on offense.

Barkley, who is originally from PA, would not only have the chance to play for the favorite team of many of his lifelong friends but also play for the team he was a fan of growing up.

As a huge D’Andre Swift fan, I can’t help but feel torn about the team paying Saquon instead of him. I always thought if they let Swift walk, it was because they didn’t want to spend big bucks on the running back position.

But I won’t argue Barkley’s talent. This would clearly be an upgrade and make this Philly offense amongst the best in the league. But I think it still could be with Swift as the team’s primary running back.
