Eagles linked to 2 teams for pass-rusher Haason Reddick, trade expected around NFL

Ever since the Eagles restructured Josh Sweat’s contract, the steam on a Hasson Reddick trade has really picked up.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that the expectation around the league is that Reddick will eventually be traded.

The Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons are listed as potential landing spots for the elite pass rusher.

Jeremy Fowler on Eagles potentially trading Haason Reddick

“The expectation leaguewide is that he is moved at some point. The Eagles went and spent on Bryce Huff, they re-signed Josh Sweat, so they have their two pass rushers. Reddick appears to be the odd man out.

He does want a new deal, but this is a premier guy that should have value. He wants a new contract, plus the draft capital that it’s going to take to get him. Arizona could be a team to watch because Jonathan Gannon was with him two years ago in Philly.

They had good production together. Arizona needs pass rushers. Atlanta to an extent, so there should be teams in the mix.”

Obviously this all began when Ian Rapoport reported that the Eagles gave Reddick and his camp permission to seek a trade on Super Bowl Sunday. Reddick then tried shooting down those reports with a quote tweet on Twitter.

I find myself a little puzzled that Reddick would end up being the one traded between him and Josh Sweat. However, there’s no guarantee he gets moved, but it does seem it’s trending in that direction. Both the teams Fowler listed make a lot of sense too.

For one, Arizona has the obvious Jonathan Gannon connection, and the Cardinals are desperate to improve their pass rush, considering how poor it was last season. The Cardinals had the third-fewest sacks in the NFL last season, as well as the worst pass-rush win rate.

The Falcons are also in dire need of improving their pass rush. They were tied for 21st in sacks last year and ranked last in pass-rush win rate.

So, considering Reddick’s age and contract status, the Eagles and Howie Roseman will try their best to get the most they can in a trade. Whether that’s a second-round pick, or whatever the case may be; this is something that could stretch out to the NFL draft.
