Report: Eagles host big body wideout for Top-30 pre-draft visit

As we inch closer to the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles are hard at work wrapping up their top-30 visits.

Most recently, they hosted speedy cornerback Decamerion Richardson for a visit. On Tuesday, they brought in 6-foot-6 Florida State wideout Johnny Wilson.

The first thing you notice with Wilson is his size. He’s 6-foot-6, 237 pounds, and moves surprisingly well for his size. While his 4.52 40-yard dash doesn’t jump off the screen, it’s undoubtedly impressive for a near 240 pound man.

His major red flag is inconsistent hands — something that’s obviously pretty important for a wide receiver. I haven’t done a lot of homework on this guy, but at a glance, he reminds me of JJ Arcega-Whiteside. Huge body, but very inconsistent at catching the football. But in Wilson’s defense, he moves a lot better than JJAW.

Here’s a look at Pro Football Focus‘ draft profile on him:

Wilson is a very intriguing prospect due to his coordination and athleticism for his size (both height and weight). He doesn’t show a lack of balance, poor footwork or a lack of fluidity — even his change of direction is good relative to his size. He has a massive catch radius, which he has used often to his advantage. But his hands — both with and without contact — need to be more reliable. If he can show more fire and focus at the catch point, he can be an impactful receiver, especially in the red zone.

Most outlets project Wilson as an end of Day 2, potential Day 3 selection. His physical attributes are definitely intriguing. However, he doesn’t really fit the mold of what the Eagles want out of their wideouts.

An interesting top-30 visit for sure, but I wouldn’t put much stock into this one.
