Bryce Harper crushes HR in first game back from paternity leave (again), shuts up heckler, ball-taps Bryson Stott in Phillies 5-0 win over the Reds
Earlier today, Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies took care of business against the Cincinnati Reds, winning the series finale 5-0.
Zack Wheeler was on the mound and continued his dominant start to the 2024 season, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing a hit and four walks while striking out eight.
Bryson Stott started the scoring for the Phillies with an RBI triple that scored Nick Castellanos in the top of the third inning and Kyle Schwarber kept it rolling with a sacrifice fly that scored Stott.

Bryce Harper then came to the plate fresh off the paternity list and used his new dad strength to crush a 2-run home run, giving the Phillies a 4-0 lead.

HEAT CHECK: Trea Turner went 3-for-5 today and is now batting .336 on the season.
Wild: After the Harper’s welcomed their first child 5 years ago, he hit a home run in his first game back with the Phillies.
After the home run, Harper was quick to address a heckler behind home plate, basically asking whatever Reds fan who was dumb enough to test him “what happened” before adding a few more choice words on his way back to the dugout.

Following the game, Harper hopped on the mic to talk to the broadcast crew and as usual Stott and Marsh came out to congratulate their teammate with some water on the shoulders.
Harper, quick to react, gave Stott a nice “ball tap” in return.
With the win, the Phillies improved to 16-10 on the season. They split the four game series with the Reds 2-2 and will stay on the road for six more games.
Next Up: The Phillies head to San Diego to face the Padres. Aaron Nola will be on the mound tomorrow night at 9:40pm est.
