Roster Moves: Eagles hosting former first-round WR at rookie minicamp
As the NFL Draft comes to a close, teams will now turn their attention toward undrafted free agents and rookie minicamps before OTAs get underway next month.
Rookies won’t be the only ones attending these camps, however. Players who have bounced around the league or are returning to football also participate in tryouts.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Eagles are hosting former Bengals WR John Ross at their rookie minicamp this week.
Former #Bengals and #Giants WR John Ross, whose 4.22 40-yard dash was the Combine record until Xavier Worthy broke it this year, will participate in the #Eagles’ rookie camp this week on a tryout basis, sources say. Ross, 28, was drafted No. 9 overall in 2017 by the Bengals after running a 4.22 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine, the fastest ever at the time.
Production didn’t follow in the NFL, as Ross recorded just 51 receptions for 733 yards and ten touchdowns during his four seasons in Cincinatti.
Ross signed with the Giants in 2021 but didn’t see much success there either, catching 11 passes for 224 yards and one touchdown. After spending last offseason with the Chiefs, Ross announced his retirement at the start of training camp.
One year later, he looks to make a comeback and will get his first crack with the NFC-contending Eagles.
Nobody’s catching @WatchJRoss! That’s a 66-yard @Bengals TD. #SeizeTheDEY #SFvsCIN
