Phillies ‘cake walk’ schedule in the month of May should catapult them to the top of the National League East standings
Trust me. I know the risk of writing a headline like that and the repercussions I will face on Twitter if the Phillies lay an egg in the month of May but at this point, I fully expect this team to handle business against bad baseball teams.Â
The month of May is shaping up to be a ‘cake walk’ for the Phillies, with only one team on the schedule that holds a winning record – the Texas Rangers at 17-15.
Phillies Schedule in the Month of May:
- 4 Games – San Francisco Giants – Home
- 2 Games – Toronto Blue Jays – Home
- 4 Games – Miami Marlins – Road
- 4 Games – New York Mets – Road
- 3 Games – Washington Nationals – Home
- 3 Games – Texas Rangers – Home
- 3 Games – Colorado Rockies – Road
- 3 Games – San Francisco Giants – Road
- 1 Game – St. Louis Cardinals – Home
The Phillies beat the Trout-less Los Angeles Angels 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon and had the day off today. The win against the Angeles in the series finale earned the Phillies an MLB-leading 21st victory this season while wrapping up a very successful 7-3 roadtrip.
The Fightins are now 21-11 overall – marking their best start through 32 games since 2011 when they posted a 22-10 record. They sit a half-game behind the Atlanta Braves for first place in the National League East standings.

Tonight, the Phillies will open up a four-game series at home against the San Francisco Giants.
The Giants are mediocre at best. They are 5-5 over their last 10 games and a miserable 6-10 on the road. On the year, San Francisco sits in third place in the NL West standings, 4.5 back from the Dodgers and tied with the San Diego Padres in second.Â
Aaron Nola will be on the bump tonight. The Phillies game will stream exclusively on Apple TV+. Opposing Nola will be Jordan Hicks, who has posted an impressive 2-0 record with a 1.59 ERA this season.Â
