Saquon Barkley claps back at Giants fans, says he was never offered contract to stay in New York

Saquon Barkley set the record straight on his exit from New York.

The star running back was courtside for last night’s Knicks vs. 76ers playoff matchup in South Philadelphia and needless to say, Knicks fans in attendance weren’t thrilled to see him.

After the game, Barkley basically tweeted that Giants fans need to get over it.

Hecklers replied and accused Barkley of selling out on the franchise that drafted him. Barkley responded, claiming the Giants never made a contract offer to bring him back.

Barkley reportedly declined a three-year, $23M contract offer from the Giants in 2023, instead playing on the franchise tag that paid him $10.1M for the year. Per multiple reports, no numbers were exchanged by either the Giants or Barkley’s agent this offseason.

The former Offensive Rookie of the Year then signed a three-year, $37.75M contract with the NFC East-rival Eagles, effectively making him public enemy No. 1 in New York.

As they say, every story has three sides: yours, theirs, and the truth. Regardless of the situation, Barkley felt undervalued and did what was best for his family and career.

Expect Eagles vs. Giants matchups to have some extra juice next season.
