“Mr. Speaker, I rise to celebrate and recognize Quinyon Mitchell, a cornerback from the University of Toledo,” Kaptur said. “Quinyon was recently selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Northwest Ohio is undeniably proud of Mr. Mitchell. He became the first Toledo Rocket selected in the first round in 31 years.”
Kaptur additionally highlighted Mitchell’s achievement as a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which honors the top FBS defensive player. She also noted his significance as the third Toledo player to be drafted in consecutive years.
If it still needs to be clarified by now, the Eagles not only have a fantastic player, but it’s pretty clear that Quinyon was beloved in Northwest Ohio, which is aligned with him being a great person.
