Updated look at Eagles 2024 cap space after NFL Draft
The Eagles made several big-money moves this offseason, including extending star receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Despite their spending, Philadelphia ranks seventh in cap space remaining following the 2024 NFL Draft.
Projected NFL Cap Space as of May 11
- Patriots — $50,639,159
- Commanders — $43,404,604
- Jaguars — $34,199,225
- Titans — $30,682,764
- Cardinals — $29,254,833
- Chargers — $27,930,183
- Eagles — $27,240,681
- Colts — $26,300,588
- Lions — $26,008,308
- Bengals — $23,259,938
The Eagles have only signed two of their nine draft picks as of now, so expect this number to change in the coming weeks.
GM Howie Roseman is widely known for structuring contracts with high salary cap hits toward the end of the deal and low cap numbers at the start, which is why he’s able to pay so many players.
Void years also play a factor, allowing the Eagles to spread out cap space well after the deal ends. Owner Jeffrey Lurie also deserves credit, as he writes the hefty checks for signing bonuses that come out right away.
Not every owner is willing to foot the bill, and that gives the Eagles an advantage every year.
Sources: The #Eagles and star WR AJ Brown agreed to terms on a new 3-year extension for $96M, the highest for any WR in NFL history. He’s now under contract thru 2029 & his total guarantee of $84M is also the highest.
