There could be some minor differences once the official schedule is released Wednesday, but for the most part, this will be what he schedule looks like.
Quick Takes:
- This will be the third year in a row the Eagles host Kirk Cousins for their home opener. It’ll also be the third year in a row their home opener is played in primetime. Over that time, the Eagles have posted a 2-0 record against Kirko and Co. Atlanta should be an improved squad heading into 2024, but this still feels like a W when you consider the Cousins factor.
- There’s a good amount of 1PM contests here, something Eagles fans were yearning for this offseason. The team only had three 1PM games in 2023. By the end of the year, the primetime games started to wear on us, and while it may have not have been the main reason for the team’s downfall, it probably played a role.
- Even with more 1PM games, the Eagles are still featured heavily in primetime. They’ll have five primetime contests — one Monday night, two Sunday night, one Thursday night, and the season opener Friday night game in Brazil.
- This will be the first season in 12 years where the Eagles don’t have at least one Sunday night game against Dallas. This NFC East rivalry has become a staple for SNF, so it’s pretty surprising to see both of the Eagles-Cowboys games being played at 4:25. The second matchup between these two will be played in Week 17. Depending on where both teams stand at that time, this game will more than likely be flexed to Sunday night.
- The Week 5 bye isn’t ideal. The first week the NFL schedules by weeks is typically Week 4. Philly has gotten pretty lucky in recent years with their bye weeks — they’ve typically fallen later in the year.
- Week 8 through Week 13 will be the gauntlet this year. They’ll face the Bengals, Jaguars, Cowboys, Commanders, Rams, and Ravens during that stretch. Each of those teams, with the exception of Washington, will be in playoff contention this season. On paper, this stretch doesn’t feel as daunting as last year’s. Nevertheless, it won’t be easy.
