Tyrese Maxey All-NBA snub will end up costing him a lot of money in upcoming contract extension
The NBA officially announced the All-NBA Teams on Wednesday to honor the top players in the league for the 2023-24 regular season. While Philadelphia 76ers player Tyrese Maxey was definitely a strong candidate to make his first All-NBA team, that didn’t happen.
The All-NBA Third Team consisted of Steph Curry, Devin Booker, Tyrese Haliburton, LeBron James and Domantas Sabonis.
Maxey, a first time All-Star last season and winner of the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award, averaged 25.9 points and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 45% from the floor and 37.3% from beyond the arc.
After the All-NBA Teams were announced, Maxey getting ‘snubbed’ from a selection also impacted his upcoming contract extension and the amount of money he could potentially make on a max contract.
If Tyrese Maxey did in fact make an All-NBA squad, he would have earned up to $245.3 million. Since he was NOT named, the max he can make is $204.4 million.
Maxey can now make the following numbers, compared to what he could have made if he made an All-NBA team.
