Eagles top bounce-back candidate heading into the 2024 season
PFF recently released bounce-back candidates for all 32 teams heading into 2024. With the Philadelphia Eagles having the same season as last year, it would be very interesting to see which player they decided to use.Â
Returning to safety, C.J. Gardner-Johnson got the nod. Gardner-Johnson only played 291 snaps last season due to a torn pec and struggled the way he did in the NFC Championship against the 49ers, but it only makes sense. At the same time, I’d chuck that up to his injury and learn a new scheme that didn’t benefit his play style.Â

Gardner-Johnson’s shift in responsibilities, with fewer blitzes, had a noticeable effect on his overall performance. His grade in this area plummeted to a career-low of 50.7, a stark contrast to his consistent coverage grade. This change, coupled with his reunion with the Eagles who understand his strengths, sets the stage for an intriguing season.
