Phillies overcome Ranger Suarez injury scare, beat the Cardinals 6-1

The Philadelphia Phillies kept things rolling at Citizens Bank Park last night, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 to improve to an MLB-best 41-18 on the season.

Last night’s win didn’t come without concern, as Ranger Suarez exited the game in early after being hit by a line drive on his pitching hand.

Suarez was struck by a 106.1 mph line drive on his pitching hand in the top of the second inning which ultimately led to an early exit from the ball game.

Thankfully, Suarez suffered only a left hand contusion and the x-rays were negative. The Phillies will wait to see if the swelling goes down before making a decision on his next start which as of now, is scheduled to be on Saturday from London.

Even with Suarez’s early exit, the Phillies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a 2 RBI double from Alec Bohm and an RBI single from Nick Castellanos.

Alec Bohm 2 RBI Double

Nick Castellanos RBI Single

RBI King: Bohm has 49 RBI on the season, trailing only Juan Soto (50), Marcell Ozuna (53), and Jose Ramirez (57) in all of Major League Baseball.

Heating Up: Nick Castellanos is batting .241 with a homer and 4 RBI over his last seven games.

In the bottom of the seventh with a runner on first, Bryce Harper stepped up to the plate and absolutely destroyed a two-run home run to deep right field, his 14th of the season.
