The NBA Finals was missing a very crucial aspect during Game 1 in Boston
Leave it to the NBA and Adam Silver to remove a tradition of the sport we all know and love. With Game 1 of the NBA finals matchup between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks tipping off, you couldn’t help but notice something was missing.
The court on which the players played in TD Garden was missing the classic Larry O’Brien Trophy at center court. That design was a staple of the Finals, where it would be around the home team’s logo at half-court.
The new NBA Finals court design is underwhelming

Fans all over social media expressed their concerns about the missing trophy design.
I can promise you right now the aura would be through the roof if the NBA realized one small change for the #NBA Finals. Literally put the trophy front and center again. pic.twitter.com/zZFGDFurp7

Seeing these two teams go at it heading into the finals felt very new and refreshing. But Game 1 ended up being a snooze fest blowout, and we all had to sit and watch the most annoying fanbase in basketball: Boston Celtics fans celebrated last night.
Let’s make one thing clear. If you guys go on to win this whole thing, it will be on par with the Lebron James “Mickey Mouse” trophy during the bubble period. The Lakers’ winning was more impressive because the Celtics have only faced teams with injured rosters and feeble competition. Let’s hope Luka Doncic can get some help in game 2.
