Sixers Fans, Get Excited: Daryl Morey and Josh Harris are scheming up a game plan with the Washington Commanders for Round 2 of the NBA Draft
Sixers fans, get excited! Ahead of the highly-anticipated Day 2 broadcast NBA Draft, our trustworthy front office will be consulting with the NFL Powerhouse Washington Commanders on how to properly navigate the second round – which is set to begin today at 4PM.
According to Jake Fischer at Yahoo! Sports, the Philadelphia 76ers are scheming up strategy with the Washington Commanders on how to find success during Round 2 of the NBA Draft.
Sixers and Commanders In The Lab:
The introduction of an additional day has also prompted various NBA teams to confer with NFL personnel, league sources told Yahoo Sports, to glean any possible insight into how to handle an overnight and early-morning window between rounds. The NFL Draft takes place over three days now. “Is there any gamesmanship we’re not aware of?” one NBA official who spoke with an NFL team asked.
An NFC executive who spoke with three NBA teams tried to enlighten each.
“I’ll be honest,” the executive told Yahoo Sports. “I’ll be surprised if any team didn’t [consult the NFL].”
The Philadelphia 76ers are owned by a managing group spearheaded by Joshua Harris, who’s also led a recent acquisition of the Washington Commanders. All teams under the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment umbrella regularly collaborate, and the Sixers and Commanders held a meeting about how to approach the second night of this year’s NBA Draft, according to one source with knowledge of those discussions. Philadelphia is slated to pick at No. 41 on Thursday night.
Multiple teams in the first five picks of the NBA’s second round also consulted with NFL personnel about how to best maximize those trade opportunities, sources said.
Listen, I understand that Joshua Harris also owns the Washington Commanders and apparently this is something that’s not only done with Harris/Blitzer owned teams but also others around the NBA.
However…I regret to inform you (not really) that I literally do not give a shit.
Scheming with the Commanders to figure out what the plan will be for today’s second round of the NBA Draft is just another example of how out of touch Harris/Blitzer along with resident one-man clown show Daryl Morey are when it comes to the Philadelphia 76ers, the slow and dying pulse of this fanbase, and the overall general direction of this team moving forward.
Maybe Joshua Harris should just walk across the street in South Philly and see if he can borrow 5-10 minutes of Howie Roseman, Jeffery Lurie, or John Middleton’s time? The Phillies and Eagles are well-oiled machines here in Philadelphia while the 76ers are at risk of falling below the Philadelphia Flyers for the fourth most relevant professional sports team in the city.
On top of that, why is no one asking what type of consulting is actually needed by NFL teams to NBA organizations in order they can prepare for the second day of the draft?
Don’t get me wrong, the Philadelphia 76ers need all the help they can get.
First, you have Daryl Morey looking to use over $60 million to bring in a superstar to pair with Maxey and Embiid and everyone he was targeting is staying put. No amount of money could lure them to come play basketball in Philadelphia next season.
When that didn’t work, Morey was focused on trading the No. 16 overall pick last night and not a single team would bite on whatever he was willing to offer so instead, Morey then drafted Jared McCain out of Duke.
The kid can hoop for sure but he’s also 6’2” just like his back court counterpart Tyrese Maxey.
How many teams can you make with two undersized guards at the helm?
“But Drew – McCain won’t be a starter”
Ah. Wrong. Not because I think he should be a starter, but Daryl Morey apparently thinks he’s ready – whether that’s because the 76ers only have now 3 players on their roster and no game plan to do anything about it remains to be seen.
I literally have zero idea what Daryl Morey and the Sixers are doing.
You have Joel Embiid, now 30-31 years old in the prime of his career and you have a budding superstar in Tyrese Maxey, yet literally cannot build a contender around them?
Who knows at this point but maybe the Commanders can actually help these lazy, braindead idiots down at the Wells Fargo Center figure shit out.
I wouldn’t hold your breath.
