Phillies Patriotism

A public relations firm keeps emailing me a study about Phillies fans being ranked in the bottom 4 of ‘patriotic fanbases’ so here’s why their research is beyond stupid

If you are someone who runs a sports website, then you are probably very familiar with the amount of emails you receive from public relations firms attempting to get your website to publish an article for one of their clients.

Typically, the data provided is nothing more than a load of crap and a lazy attempt in getting a backlink to their clients “study” and unfortunately, the latest email I received is no different.

A PR firm called “Research Frontier” has spammed my inbox over the past few weeks in effort to get me to write an article about “The Most Patriotic Fanbases in Major League Baseball” and how the Philadelphia Phillies are shockingly ranked as the No. 3 least patriotic fanbase in the entire league.

Whether this is a bot account that goes by Riley Clark or simply an employee trying to do their job for some client who actually believes this “research” is something that “Phillies fans will love” is certainly in question.

Here’s one of the emails I received from Riley Clark.

Phillies Patriotism

The study was conducted by surveying 5,000 MLB fans to determine “just how patriotic a fanbase claims to be”. The questions asked included the following:

  • Do you vote
  • Do you wave the American flag
  • Can you recite the Pledge of Allegiance

Most Patriotic MLB Fanbases

Why the pledge of allegiance even matters is beyond ridiculous. I think the study believes that it’s recited at baseball games? It’s not but maybe it should be? I don’t know. That’s beyond the point.

The results apparently showed the Philadelphia Phillies, a team that plays in the literal birthplace of America and has the Liberty Bell as their logo, in the bottom 4 for “patriotism”.

The Los Angeles Angels took home first place (lol) followed by the Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies.

I mean seriously, what the fuck is this?

Initially, I was going to reply directly to Riley Clark and let her know how stupid her data was and the fact that she and her client thought “Phillies fans would love this” but instead, I decided to post it directly on the website.

It’s like Riley Clark and whoever her client is forgot what happened at a Phillies game after the United States of America killed Osama bin Laden.

Maybe we should go check the World Baseball Classic?

Bryce Harper, JT Realmuto, Trea Turner, and Kyle Schwarber were all on Team USA. If it wasn’t scheduled as such a burden for pitchers, you bet your ass Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola would be pitching for Team USA as well.

Here’s every angle from Trea Turner’s bone-chilling Grand Slam in the World Baseball Classic

Bryce Harper is literally leading the charge to get MLB players back in the Olympics. He also has been defiant of the league’s rules about custom baseball bats and even campaigned to use America-themed bats on SEVERAL occasions.

Bryce Harper called Major League Baseball’s bluff, used Phillie Phanatic custom bat during London Series >>

As for the Phillies roster? Well, it’s basically all Americans outside of a few position players and members of the pitching staff.

Public Outcry for the Phillies to play at home on 4th of July

It’s an absolute injustice that the Philadelphia Phillies play on the road on America’s birthday. Every year this seems to be the case (this year Chicago) and for years, fans have called for The Fightins to be at home to celebrate America and it’s most famous past time, baseball.

Clearly, the study that polled 5,000 MLB fans with no indication of how many were actually Phillies fans, and their willingness to dress up for the 4th of July while their baseball team plays in Chicago wasn’t taken into consideration.

When they do play at home on the 4th, the Phillies make it a week-long celebration for fans – including a Salute to Veterans, Fireworks Theme Nights, and celebrations around Citizens Bank Park.

Anyways, if you’re going to email me a “data study” it better be accurate and at the very least provide some type of actual information. Saying the Phillies and their fanbase aren’t patriotic is beyond stupid and can’t be tolerated.
