Former Philadelphia Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr was on 94.1 WIP this morning, talking about how he used to call into the radio station and use a “fake voice” to rip himself (and presumably the Phillies) while he was the general manager of the team.

Oh. Cool? Talk about cringeworthy.
Amaro is out there basically saying he was Brian Colangelo-ing the Philadelphia Phillies while he was the GM and we’re all supposed to be like “Oh wow that’s so funny! Silly Rubes! Hilarious!”
Give me a break.
Ruben Amaro Jr served as the Phillies’ assistant GM from 1998-2008 and then took over as GM from 2009-2015. He was widely criticized for a decade while the Phillies failed to build any type of contending baseball team for the majority of the 2010’s. He ended the 2007-2011 window and sent the Phillies into the depths of hell.
To be clear, literally no one likes Ruben Amaro Jr.
Wild that 94.1 WIP, the most unlikable radio station in the Philadelphia area, is now trying to turn Ruben Amaro Jr into a likable person.
Literally no one likes WIP in the first place and no one, absolutely no one, is suddenly going to be in favor of Ruben Amaro Jr making their ears bleed any more than he already does when he appears on the Phillies’ broadcast.
Not to mention, you can’t even tell me that 94.1 WIP didn’t know it wasn’t Ruben Amaro Jr calling in with a “fake voice” – he has the most unique, annoying tone to his voice already. It wasn’t some fake caller. Did he use a burner phone too? No one had any clue it was Ruben? Is that what we’re saying here, WIP?
Of course they knew it was Ruben. 94.1 WIP was in on it, serving as yet another example of why they are the most unlikable radio station in the Philadelphia area.
It’s crazy even trying to write it out because it sounds so stupid, yet WIP continues to be oblivious about it. The lack of self-awareness continues to amaze me with all of the hosts from 94.1 WIP. You have Spike Eskin continuously embarrassing himself any time he speaks.
His father Howard is out there trying to kiss Aramark Employees and getting barred from Citizens Bank Park and the Wells Fargo Center. Joe Giglio somehow still has a job after flip-flopping like a fish out of water on a daily basis with his ridiculous and downright insulting sports takes.
Tom Kelly probably doesn’t even watch sports given his nonsense he spews on the airwaves. There’s literally nothing left. It’s a circus show that no one wants. Instead, we’re force-fed their garbage and now they want us to accept Ruben Amaro Jr too. Disgusting.

Drew Wip ratings continue going up and up….. You may not like them but you’re in the minority… I love WIP it’s fun enjoyable…. Not saying that Audacy doesn’t have some serious issues…. Besides being bankrupt….. They have refused to deal with the Eskin situation honorably…. There’s just a campaign to cancel Howard. And there hasn’t been a true telling of what really happened here, just some sort of secret investigation….
I’m a listener as well. It’s frustrating because they are the most listened to station in the city and they continuously abuse that privilege with with their ridiculous “takes” and reporting just to cause division among fans rather than just talking about sports!
