Rookie Adem Bona inks four-year/$8 million deal with Philadelphia 76ers
The 41st overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, center Adem Bona has agreed to a four-year/$8 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Philadelphia locked up Bona long-term with their second-round exception, a tool that allows teams to sign their second-round picks to multi-year deals that include a player option, while not counting toward the salary cap. This exception is a product of the NBA’s newest CBA agreement and teams within the first tax apron, like the 76ers, are expected to take advantage of the tool.
Where will Adem Bona fit in Philadelphia?
As Philadelphia’s roster stands, Adem Bona will be the third string center behind Joel Embiid and offseason addition Andre Drummond. With an injury prone superstar like Embiid, it’s important that the 76ers have adequate front-court depth for whenever the 2023 MVP could be sidelined.
However, with Philadelphia having an established reserve center, Adem Bona may not see the floor too much, besides garbage time minutes. The rookie will likely spend a good amount of time with the Delaware Blue Coats to polish his talents. Regardless, the big man will learn a great deal early on in his career next to Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond.
What will Adem Bona bring to the 76ers?
Throughout the early stages of the Summer League, Adem Bona has flashed intriguing potential as a modern two-way center that could one day fill Drummond’s shoes as the 76ers’ lead backup big. Bona’s found success as a roll-man off pick-and-rolls, particularly when receiving lob passes as well as being a profound shot-block/interior defender with his high motor being apparent.
Bona recorded his best statistical performance in Philadelphia’s win over the Detroit Pistons where he produced 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks, on 4-4 shooting from the field.
With the signing of Bona, Philadelphia now has only three spots on their roster and the front office would be wise to address their forward depth and possibly add another point guard to thoroughly complete the team.

This is Big Roc A.K.A. Reese Love, What the H**L are the Sixers doing? Letting Payne go to the Knicks for the league minimum and keeping Lowrey who by the way is 9 Thousand years old and way to slow to handle Bostons guards and letting B-Ball Pal go who should have been are starting Power forward. Do you guys remember when we first got B-Ball Pal and played him at the same time with Drummond no team was scoring on us in the paint and we controlled the boards.
