HR Derby National Anthem brings America together when we needed it most

We’re living in strange times here in the United States. In times like this, sometimes we just need to dunk on a terrible National Anthem performance, as a collective country. On Monday night at the MLB Home Run Derby, that’s exactly what we got — and the great people of this nation took the opportunity and ran with it.

Ingrid Andress performed the National Anthem ahead of this year’s Derby. While she didn’t intend to bring our fractured country together, that’s exactly what she did. It was so bad that literally every single person on social media is criticizing it. It’s truly a beautiful sight to behold.

It was such a putrid performance that our sweet, sweet boy, Alec Bohm, couldn’t even hold in his laughter.

Fresh off the heels of an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, this is what we needed. We needed something to bring us together. It may not change the fact that this country is spiraling out of control, but for a brief moment in time, the American people came together united against one cause.

Maybe I’m making this out to be more profound than it actually is, I don’t know, I’m not a scientist. Nevertheless, I know seeing the collective hate on my timeline put a smile on my face.
