Paul George credits financial advice from Lil Dicky as one of the main reasons he chose to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers
Philadelphia 76ers newest superstar Paul George recently gave credit to Lil Dicky for being one of the reasons that he chose to come to the city of Brotherly Love in free agency.
George gave credit to Lil Dicky for the financial advice the Philly area native offered while he was making his decision on where to sign during NBA free agency. George said the following about Lil Dicky’s advice to “save money” by coming to Philadelphia.
“It sold me… What hit me was the saving money. It impacted me. It had a little touch on me.”
Paul George on Lil Dicky’s financial advice
Me and Lil Dicky had our differences during the playoffs last season. He was out there in Los Angeles telling fans back home to not sell their tickets to the game while he wasn’t even attending himself.
That’s rat behavior and a guy that’s #fromhere shouting down on fans from his fancy house in Hollywood while the 76ers were cooked thanks to years of negligence from the organization that they spend money to watch play.
Not great, Dave. Sorry.
Of course, I responded and actually said I was a fan of his show and the freestyles that have gone mega-viral on social media. Dave is a talented guy after all.
People considered it backtracking but I assure you, asking fans to do things that you are not doing yourself is something I’ll never support.
Now that we’re all on the same page, I don’t believe Paul George for a second that Lil Dicky is someone who influenced his decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers.
His quote as to why makes me even more skeptical.
Sure, California tax laws are absolutely brutal but I highly doubt that Paul George needed Lil Dicky to notify him of that – even more so when he’s sitting in a room and Dr. J is telling him that he’s the “missing piece” like Moses Malone was for him the last time the 76ers won a chip.
I honestly thought PG was trolling here and referencing the Lil Dicky song “Save That Money” but apparently he actually said this on his podcast. Could just be a half-assed pandering effort from a new Philly guy that has yet to visit the Bryce Harper School of Pandering, right?
Is it possible that our friend Dave here is looking to be mentioned alongside the Philadelphia 76ers in a more positive light after his call to not sell tickets to playoff games fell upon deaf ears?
Why is Lil Dicky telling Paul George to save money, while he already criticized 76ers fans for making money on pointless playoff tickets last year?
There are questions. There aren’t any real answers.
I’m definitely skeptical but Dave, if you’re reading this – your freestyle on Sway in the Morning is still a banger.
Cheers.
