Top 5 Most Overrated Eagles players of all time list surfaces on social media, sparks serious debate among fans
Usually, when discussing players in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles franchise, the conversation ranking the team’s best all-time players.
Today however, the conversation across social media platforms is about the Top 5 Most Overrated Philadelphia Eagles players – which has caused quite the debate among fans.
Before we get to the list released by the popular website Sportskeeda, let’s just say that the first players that come to mind for me personally are from the Chip Kelly Era here in Philadelphia.
You could easily drop Byron Maxwell or Kiko Alonso and every Birds fan would probably agree with you. If you want to toss in Nnamdi Asomugha from a few years before Chip, I doubt anyone would blame you either.
That’s also why the list from Sportskeeda is even more bizarre. I’m not exactly sure how anyone could agree with this nonsense.

Miles Sanders and Alshon Jeffery appearing anywhere on this list makes me want to jump off the Ben Franklin Bridge.
Let’s start with Miles Sanders. Over 57 games (four seasons) with the Philadelphia Eagles, Miles Sanders racked up 23 touchdowns on 739 carries for 3,708 yards.Â

To say the most overrated of all time, that seems like a major stretch, right? Sanders also finished fifth in rushing yards across the NFL in 2022. Are we really saying that he’s more overrated than, I don’t know, Demarco Murray? Don’t think so.
Alshon Jeffery is even more insane. How anyone could put a Super Bowl Champion and at the time, the Philadelphia Eagles No. 1 wide receiver on an “overrated list” is beyond me. I don’t even have to say much about Alshon and his importance to the Eagles during their Super Bowl run.
We can just leave our rebuttal with the following two videos:
Alshon Jeffery had the best media day during Super Bowl week in NFL history and it’s not even close. That alone exempts him from any list that names him as something outside of an absolute legend.
To deliver such an unreal performance during media day and to then follow it up by making a catch like this on the biggest stage of any football player’s career only to be mentioned on an overrated list is completely criminal.
This is not only the best catch in Eagles history, but Super Bowl history.
As for the other names on the list, I don’t know anyone that actually thought Bennie Logan was good. As for Bobby Hoying while the expectations were extremely high for the Eagles quarterback – he was ass from start to finish while actually playing here so I’m not really sure the term overrated applies to him either.
Jason Babin was overrated for sure. The “Wide 9” sack merchant that ignored all other responsibilities to stat pad doesn’t deserve a spot on the list. I would also throw Carson Wentz in the Top 5, along with Freddie Mitchell – who was one of many first round disasters that the Eagles thought would be good at the NFL level.
I guess we’re forgetting about Jevon Kearse?
The Philadelphia Eagles made Jevon Kearse the highest-paid defensive lineman in NFL history, and signed him to an eight-year contract worth $66 million.
“The Freak” received a signing bonus of $16 million with additional roster bonuses of $2 million each in the first two seasons, essentially guaranteeing $20 million of the deal.
The return on that contract was 74 solo tackles, 12 assists, 22.0 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries in 45 games. If that’s not overrated, I’m not sure what is lol.
