Bet Maryland lists Philadelphia Phillies with the best odds to land Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins
The Phillies are expected to be active in the centerfield market ahead of next week’s trade deadline and according to Bet Maryland, O’s Cedric Mullins could be making a trip up 95 to join The Fightins.
Mullins has been with Baltimore since 2018 and still has one year of arbitration eligibility left. He is set to earn $6.325 million in 2024. Despite hitting 30 home runs, stealing 30 bases, and winning the Silver Slugger Award, he was the bright spot on a terrible Orioles team in 2021, which finished 52-110.
Mullins’ performance has declined as the team has gotten better. He currently has a batting average of .214 and a .634 OPS with the Baltimore Orioles. This season, he has hit 10 home runs, 32 RBI, and stolen 17 bases in 285 at-bats.

Cedric Mullins to the Phillies?
According to a report by ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Baltimore could deal away first baseman Ryan Mountcastle and center fielder Cedric Mullins before next week’s trade deadline.
Bet Maryland believes that the Philadelphia Phillies have the best odds to land him.
Cedric Mullins Trade Odds:
- Phillies -150
- Orioles +500
- Blue Jays +1050
- Padres +1850
- The Field +950
I really don’t see this happening.
Typically, when you’re one of the best teams in Major League Baseball, you don’t trade away starting lineup players at the deadline. Basically, the Orioles are supposed look to trade minor-league depth to add win-now talent.
That doesn’t appear to be the case.
The O’s are reportedly looking to upgrade the centerfield position by trading Cedric Mullins and want to trade “bats for arms” in order to solidify their rotation for the postseason.
It’s not like the Phillies have much to offer in terms of major league rotation depth this season.
With all of the reports and rumors, I’m still leaning heavily to Luis Robert Jr and Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox. That will solidify the Phillies’ rotation while providing a massive upgrade to the centerfield position. I wouldn’t be upset if it turns out to be Cedric Mullins, however I don’t see how a trade package would align to what the O’s expect in return.
