Insane: Nearly 50,000 fans showed up for the Philadelphia Eagles first and only open practice this summer at Lincoln Financial Field

The Philadelphia Eagles held their first and only public practice last night at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia and the turnout, much like every year, was pretty spectacular.

The team said that nearly 50,000 fans came out to watch as the Eagles practiced in full pages for over 2 hours on a hot night in South Philly – marking their longest practice this Summer. 

Open practice at The Linc is definitely pretty cool – even more so for fans who don’t attend regular season football games. It’s an opportunity to check out the stadium and see the team put in some work on a nice summer night and man, did they pack the stadium.

Not really a practice guy and have no interest in buying into the year-round NFL machine. I will be ready to rock for Week 1 in Sao Paulo, Brazil though for sure. Still, no hate in my heart for the best fanbase in the NFL, getting excited for the upcoming season last night at The Linc.

At the same time, there was always something special about Lehigh Valley training camp and even when it was held in West Chester. 

Having the team pack up and hit the road out to the suburbs gave it a little extra boost, ya know? Anyways, for the past 12 seasons, it’s been in South Philadelphia at the NovaCare Complex, with open practices at The Linc.

• 2012 – 2024: Philadelphia 

Still great to see tens of thousands of Eagles fans out there getting hyped up for the regular season. Next week, the Eagles will head to Baltimore for preseason game one. Friday at 7:30pm.

• Aug. 1 – Public practice at Lincoln Financial Field, 6:30 p.m.
• Aug. 9 – Preseason game No. 1 at Ravens, 7:30 p.m.
• Aug. 13 – Joint practice at Patriots
• Aug. 15 – Preseason game No. 2 at Patriots, 7 p.m.
• Aug. 24 – Preseason game No. 3 vs. Vikings, 1 p.m.
• Aug. 27 – Roster must be cut from 90 to 53 by 4 p.m.
• Sept. 6 – Eagles vs. Packers in season opener in São Paulo, Brazil, 8:15 p.m.
