Noah Lyles stands on business, takes home ‘Fastest Man in the World’ honors in 100 Meter Event at the Olympics
Yesterday, Noah Lyles won his first Olympic gold medal in a literal “photo finish” in the 100 meters event – officially
In one of the closest finals in Olympic history, Noah Lyles brought home the goal medal – the first gold in the event awarded to an American since 2004.
With a time of 9.784 seconds, Lyles won gold by a mere five-thousandths of a second, followed by silver medalist Kishane Thompson of Jamaica (9.789 seconds) and bronze medalist Fred Kerley of the United States (9.81 seconds).

Note: The clock stops when your torso crosses the line. While Thompson might have got there first, Noah Lyles crossed with his chest, giving him the difference and gold medal.
Noah Lyles has been one of the more outspoken American athletes competing in the 2024 Olympics. He already crowned himself the fastest man in the world and stood on business by winning the actual event.
Last year, Lyles commented on the NBA that caught national attention. In a press conference following the end of the World Championships in Budapest, he criticized the NBA’s notion of labeling the team who wins the NBA Finals as ‘World Champions”.
Noah Lyles on NBA / Team USA players
“You know the thing that hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have ‘world champion’ on their head,” he said. “World champion of what? The United States? Don’t get me wrong, I love the U.S. at times, but that ain’t the world…We are the world.”
Noah Lyles’ comments caught the attention of several NBA players and members of Team USA, prompting responses from Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Damian Lillard, and Aaron Gordon on social media.
You simply can’t argue with the results. Lyles called out the NBA for saying they are “World Champions” and then stood on business by going out and becoming a World Champion.
That’s fair play and he deserves all the respect in the world.
