WATCH: Nick Sirianni addresses the media following the report concerning his relationship in 2023 with Jalen Hurts
Stop me if you’ve heard this question before: Can Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts move on from a very tense 2023 season?
Christ almighty. We’re back again. While it certainly feels like old news, Tim McManus dropped a conveniently-timed “bombshell” on ESPN today that fully detailed the relationship between the Eagles head coach and his franchise quarterback.
Naturally, after practice today, the media asked Sirianni about it.
Nick Sirianni on taking accountability

As everyone focused on the Eagles head coach his words could easily be described as “brutally honest.”
Sirianni conducted his message very straightforward:
Last year was my responsibility. I didn’t deliver.
He took complete accountability, expressing that he felt he had let the team down and hadn’t done enough to empower the players, which turned out to be a very heartfelt and passionate message.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re aware that after the Eagles started the season 10-1 following their Super Bowl appearance, things took a turn for the worse.
They dropped five of their final six regular-season games while opposing defenses adapted to what many considered a predictable offensive playbook while completely containing the once-versatile Jalen Hurts.
Hurts was also in the first year of his brand new $255 million contract, which made tensions rise even further than I think everyone expected.
There was an uptick in arguments on the sidelines, combative press conferences, and a whole lot of finger pointing throughout the late-season collapse and ultimately, it was over in the Wild Card round with an embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Both Hurts and Sirianni have worked to take responsibility and work on better their relationships during the offseason.
The article was odd timing given how great things have been going during training camp this season but I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Hurts and Sirianni can deal with the trials and tribulations of an NFL regular season when things kickoff in Brazil Week 1.
