Roster Moves: Eagles activate DB Cooper DeJean from Non-Football Injury List

Eagles second-round pick Cooper DeJean is practicing for the first time in training camp.

DeJean was placed on the non-football injury list to open camp after suffering a hamstring injury during an offseason workout. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that DeJean will return to practice on Tuesday and be activated off the NFI list.

While some teams viewed Cooper DeJean’s versatility as a negative during the pre-draft process, the Eagles valued that skillset.

Playing multiple positions is beneficial in a Vic Fangio-led defense, which is precisely why the Eagles traded up to select him at No. 40 overall.

“When you talk about Cooper, Cooper’s a playmaker,” Roseman said following the draft. “I think that, at the end of the day, football instincts, any sort of instincts are huge, and he’s got elite instincts.

Wherever you put him, he is a playmaker, he has a nose for the ball, you’ve seen him do it in clutch moments, obviously saw what he did in the Minnesota game.

We thought this guy was a culture guy, we thought this guy has a chance to be an elite player in this league, just like we did our first-round pick. We were aggressive there in the second round to try to bring him to Philadelphia.”

Following Tuesday’s practice, DeJean stated he should be able to play in the Eagles’ third preseason game vs. Minnesota.
