The Great Reset: Kyle Schwarber saves the Philadelphia Phillies from disaster in 9-5 victory over the Fish
The Philadelphia Phillies returned home after a rough road trip out west and dropped game one to the Miami Marlins 5-0 on Tuesday night.
Ahead of Wednesday’s game two, the Phillies held a team meeting, hoping to restore the highly-touted clubhouse vibes that have been the staple of this team’s culture over the past 2.5 seasons. The results didn’t come immediately.
Tyler Phillips coughed up a 3-run home run four batters into the game against the Fish last night at Citizens Bank Park as Phillies fans across the Tri-State area let out a collective groan, watching what they believed to be the team’s fifth straight loss.
Instead, like we have witnessed a countless number of times throughout his time here in Philadelphia, Kyle Schwarber completely changed the outcome of the game with one swing of the bat.
The Phillies loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, setting the stage for a Schwarber go-ahead grand slam to left field, igniting The Fightins yet again and stopping their most recent skid with a 9-5 victory.
Kyle Schwarber Go-Ahead Grand Slam
The Phillies are 5-5 over their last 10 games. They hold a six-game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the NL East, and an eight game lead over the third place New York Mets.
In the National League, the Dodgers lost last night, meaning the Phillies are now just a half-game behind them for the best record in the division.

In all of Major League Baseball, the Phillies are in a heated race for the best record, currently in fifth place, 1.5 games behind the Cleveland Guardians for MLB supremacy.
