Heroes: Streameast domains get seized by Feds, comes back online hours later

Anyone between the ages of 18-35 has probably heard of or used Streameast before. It’s your one-stop-shop for any live sporting event you’d like to watch — completely free of charge.

Over the years, Streameast has become the most popular live sports website in the world, with an estimated 15 million monthly visitors. It’s garnered so much attention that multiple leagues have come out against the platform. Now, we have the feds coming after the site, seizing Streameast’s primary domain over the weekend.

If you visited the site on Sunday, you were met with this message from Homeland Security.

HSI’s message to Streameast and their visitors

“This domain name has been seized by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) pursuant to a warrant issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. It is unlawful to reproduce or distribute copyrighted material including sporting events, television shows, movies, music, software, or games without authorization. Individuals who do so risk criminal prosecution under Title 18.”

Streameast’s response — go fuck yourself.

Hours after the seizure, the live sports platform took to Twitter to calm the nerves of their faithful fans, and essentially wage war on the ones trying to take them down.

This, ladies and gentleman, is what true patriotism looks like. Fighting the good fight so the common folk don’t have to pay 10 different monthly subscriptions just to watch their favorite sports.

The irony in all of this is that the sports leagues fighting to get Streameast taken down caused this issue in the first place. With each passing year, sports have slowly moved towards paid subscription services. The NFL may be the biggest culprit of them all, throwing nearly all of their prime time games on different streaming services for a quick buck.

Stop pushing live sports to streaming services and this wouldn’t be a problem. But no, the NFL, and every other sports league for that matter, cares more about money than anything else. In today’s world, I can’t really blame them for that — but at the very least, get off Streameast’s dick and let me stream a game for free every once in awhile. God forbid a man wants to enjoy a sporting event for free.
