Eagles new receiver Jahan Dotson on being shocked to join this talent-filled team and his mindset moving forward

Say what you want about the Philadelphia Eagles, but there’s no denying the greatness of their wide receiver duo of A.J. Brown & DeVonta Smith.

However, the third receiver role has been scrutinized and needed change. After several years of essentially using the “bargain bin” approach to that position, Howie Roseman made an absolute splash move by acquiring Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders for a third-round draft pick.

Following the Eagles’ preseason finale loss to the Vikings on Saturday, Dotson, who didn’t suit up for the game, addressed the media for the first time.

When asked about the trade, Dotson described it as a “shock.”

Jahan Dotson on the transition to the Philadelphia Eagles

Dotson, a Newark, NJ native, attended high school in Nazareth, PA, and made a name for himself at Penn State, where he recorded 91 receptions, 1,182 yards, and 12 touchdowns during his senior year in 2021. His impressive college career earned him the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. However, during his first two seasons in Washington, inconsistent quarterback play from Carson Wentz, Taylor Heinicke, and Sam Howell hindered Dotson from showcasing the star potential he displayed with the Nittany Lions.

The Eagles are loaded with talent, boasting stars like Smith, Brown, Jalen Hurts, and Saquon Barkley. Dotson is fully aware of this, remarking, “We have a lot of people who can make a lot of plays, so it’s going to be fun. I’ve never, In all my years of playing, been on a team with this much talent. I’m not only excited to play with them, I’m excited to learn because we have a lot of great guys in the locker room from top to bottom.”

One thing is for sure: the vibes around this team seem at an all-time high, especially after last season.
