WATCH: Kyle Schwarber crushes 3 home runs, guides Phillies to comeback 10-9 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays
Kyle Schwarber went OFF last night in Toronto, guiding the Philadelphia Phillies to a comeback, 10-9 victory over the Blue Jays.
The resurgence of Kyle Schwarber really couldn’t have come at a better time. Entering last night, Schwarber was the leader in the clubhouse with 28 homers but really hadn’t been himself for nearly a month.
Over the last 30 games, Schwarber arrived in Toronto hitting just .217 with six homers and 19 RBI – numbers that dipped to a horrific .074 with two hits and 12 strikeouts with just one run scored over his last seven games.
Schwarber’s last homer came on August 14th when he hit a grand slam against the Fish at Citizens Bank Park. That changed last night. Three times.
Schwarber went 5-for-6 from the plate with THREE home runs, 6 RBI, and four runs scored. He homered in the first inning, doubled in the third, homered in the fourth, singled in the seventh, and absolutely destroyed a go-ahead three-run home run to right field in the ninth inning to give the Phillies the lead and win.

The Phillies came back after starting pitcher Tyler Phillips lasted just 0.2 innings which put them in a 6-1 deficit at the end of the first. Phillips allowed eight hits, six earned runs, and two homers in his brief stint before exiting the game in favor of Tanner Banks.

With the win, the Phillies improved to 82-56 on the season. They are 8-2 over their last 10 games and have maintained a seven game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the NL East standings with 24 games remaining.
The Phillies trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by 1.5 games in the National League and also for the best record in Major League Baseball. More importantly, they extended their lead over the third place Milwaukee Brewers in 1.5 games in the division standings – holding onto that second seed for the postseason.
