Drew Hanlen believes Tyrese Maxey is ready to be a part of the NBA MVP conversation
Tyrese Maxey is coming off a monster 2023-24 season where he put up 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds a game, snagged his first All-Star appearance, and took home the Most Improved Player Award.
So the next question is obvious: Could we be talking about an MVP Award in the future?
Trust me. I know it sounds like a massive leap when you’re talking about the overall talent-level in the NBA with guys like Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Maxey’s own teammate Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic—who’s won it three times—already in the mix.
I have my doubts for sure but at the very least, Tyrese Maxey’s trainer Drew Hanlen doesn’t think it’s too far fetched to think his guy is ready to be a part of the conversation.
When asked if Maxey could be in contention to take home the NBA MVP Award, Hanlen didn’t hesitate to say “Absolutely.”

Of course, it’s going to require another big step forward, but Maxey has shown he’s ready for the grind. His work ethic and belief in the process have carried him this far, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Maxey, it’s that you should never bet against him.
