WATCH: Colorado School of Mines punter kicks 80-yard bomb, downed at the 1-yard line
NFL scouts will likely be making a trip to the Colorado School of Mines after watching their punter, Blake Doud kick a football 80 yards through the air and be downed at the 1-yard line.
Colorado School of Mines kicked off their Division II season on Thursday night with a home game against West Texas A&M at Marv Kay Stadium in Golden, Colorado.
The highlight of the game came when Orediggers punter Blake Doud boomed an 80-yard punt late in the third quarter.
Side Note: Colorado School of Mines Orediggers is a mouthful but you can call them anything you want as long as you mention Golden Leg Blake Doud in the same sentence.
Backed up deep in his own territory, punter Blake Doud sent an absolute nuke into the air, which prompted the punt returner to sprint backwards in effort to catch the football.
No dice. The ball traveled about 70 yards in the air before taking a perfect bounce and being downed at the 1-yard line.
Colorado School of Mines 80-yard punt, downed at the 1-yard line:
It was inevitable that the next generation of kickers in the NFL were going to be sending absolute nukes down the football field.
Did I have the Colorado School of Mines on my Bingo Card?
Absolutely not, but that kick was a thing of beauty.
We’re talking 80 yards in total, 70 yards in the air with a five second hang time, that was then downed at the 1-yard line. That’s absolutely bonkers.Â
The kid with the golden leg goes by the name Blake Doud. He was named a First Team Division II All American last year and after that video, you can easily see why.
Now that his 80-yard bomb went viral on social media, I can almost guarantee that more recognition will be coming Blake Doud’s way.Â
