Hard Agree: ESP says Eagles need to win by 10+ points against Falcons

I don’t agree with many of Eliot Shorr-Parks’ Eagles takes, but I gotta say, he’s starting to grow on me.

On the most recent episode of his podcast “Bet The Birds,” he explains why the Eagles need to go out and dominate on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

ESP: The Eagles need to win by 10+ points Monday night

“This is definitely a prove it game for the Eagles,” ESP says. “They are better than the Falcons. They’re better on offense, they’re better on defense, they’re better at quarterback, they’re better at the coaching staff… It is time for this Eagles team to go out and put together a big game.

“Not just win by three points. Not have us come on an explain, ‘Well actually if you look at it from this way, it was a good win, and actually when you review the tape, Jalen did play well. No. It’s time to watch the game and leave it feeling like they played great, where there is no question, leave no doubt about it. Go out Monday night and win by 10+ points. Show you’re a better team than the Falcons. Show the entire league, in a primetime spot, that you’re capable of playing a clean football game.”

I couldn’t agree more with this from ESP. Think about it — when’s the last time you felt great after an Eagles win? Like really felt great, felt like, “Damn, this team is really good.” I felt alright after Week 1, but let’s be honest, that game had no business being as close as it ended up being.

If it weren’t for the two turnovers in the first half, coupled with Hurts’ terrible interception towards the end of the game, the Eagles would have cruised to a victory.

It’s been almost two years since I felt great after an Eagles game. At no point in 2023 did I feel amazing about my team. Did I convince myself they were great because they kept miracuously winning? Yeah, I did. Was I proven to be an idiot for doing so? Also yes. I hate that feeling, and the only way to fix it is by seeing a complete game from the Birds.

I need dominant performances all around. I need Jalen Hurts to play like an All-Pro quarterback, I need this team to dominate the trenches on both sides of the ball. Atlanta is not a good football team. They have the ghost of Kirk Cousins under center and a first-year head coach at the helm. They just lost to a Steelers team that didn’t even score a touchdown.

This Week 2 contest shouldn’t even be close. The only way it will be close is if the Eagles play the sloppy brand of football we’ve seen out of them for the past calendar year.

So please, for the love of all things holy, kick the living shit out of the Falcons on Monday night. I’ll be in the stands — please don’t let me leave as a miserable drunk. I’d much rather drink a victory cocktail and scream Eagles chants until my voice box explodes.

Not only do I need this, this entire city needs it.
